Size
Double pushchairs are typically larger than single ones, particularly when they are side-by-side buggies like the Kolcraft Geo 3 or UPPAbaby. The good thing is that this extra width allows them to accommodate heavier children without straining the chassis. They also come with other key features that make them stand out, including spacious pop-out canopies that come with SPF 50 and windows that peek out and swivel lock front wheels which help navigate narrow spots such as aisles for shopping; a one-parent cup holder and a smart fold mechanism that can be done by one hand; and 10 inch back wheels that aren't made for rough terrain but can manage city streets and theme parks fairly well.
In double infant stroller of price tags, these types of lightweight buggies, which are side-by-side, are surprisingly affordable.
Weight
The lighter a double buggy is the more easy it will be to lift and maneuver. The Joie Evalite Duo is a good choice if you need to be aware of weight, as it's the lightest in our Lab tests but still offers plenty of features, such as nice-sized pop-out canopies that come with SPF 50 and peekaboo windows as well as a quick-release fold which can be folded flat in a matter of minutes; four-wheel suspension to take on rough terrain and an adjustable front wheel that makes getting around tight aisles of supermarkets and shops simple. With a price of just over P1,000 is a very affordable stroller. It can also carry twins or a baby and toddler with the purchase of an additional'sidepack'.
Flexibility
A double buggy is a great option for parents with twins, or even a toddler and baby. Buggies that are narrow are a great way to squeeze through small spaces. Side-by-side models enable you to keep the track of your children and ensure their safety while you are navigating the grocery store or in the park. Many also have a wide variety of seat configurations that allow you to modify the seat as your children grow. Some have the option to add a ride-on or car seat.
The Joie Evalite Duo is a perfect example. It can be used to support two seats, or even a car seat. The adaptors make it easy to change from one seat to a double seat in a matter of seconds. It also comes with a large pop-out UPF 50+ sunshade that can be used as a canopy, adjustable leg rests and peekaboo windows on both seats; a standing fold that's simple and quick to fold using just one hand; and a premium suspension that can take care of rough terrain.
Tri-fold buggies such as the iCandy Peach are another versatile option. Their slim frames are perfect for narrow aisles and doors and they can comfortably accommodate twins or even a baby and even a large child thanks to the addition of UPPAbaby's "PiggyBack' board (which is available separately). They provide a spacious basket, and come with all the accessories you could need, including liners and rain covers.
Tandem buggies are generally designed with your children sitting side-by-side. This can make them easier and more stable to push on uneven surfaces, however they can be a challenge to maneuver up and over kerbs. They have a larger footprint than a one-seater and can be too big to fit through doorways.
